We have all loved this jacket in the shop, the cut is amazing when you try it on, and is what makes it really special. I have worn every chunky knit and warm polo neck I ever owned several times over.

The cold weather was fine when it first started. I just adapted my wardrobe by adding a warm t-shirt or soft polo neck under all my dresses and tops for work, and at the weekends I got out the old favourites in the chunky knitwear department. I don’t really own that much in the way of warm knitwear, as we rarely get this much cold weather.

I’ve been looking around today for some inspiration to brighten up my limited Winter wardrobe. Here are a few of the lovely things I found :

Have you been watching her on the Apprentice recently? I do very much like her straightforward attitude, and admire her business ability, so it’s great to see her wearing the Almost Famous brand. And besides, I just love watching The Apprentice! Last night’s Interviews Episode was the best yet, and I’m so glad that Stuart Baggs the Brand has finally gone!-

• In 2006 Brady was Cosmopolitan magazine’s Woman of the Year, and named in the category of ‘Woman Who Has Changed The World’.

• Brady has twice been recognised by the Queen; once in March 2003 as a top 100 ‘Women Achiever’ and in 2007 as one of the UK’s Top 200 Women to Impact Business & Industry.

I think she looks great in this picture, as her hairstyle is so much softer on her than normal. The soft grey of the Almost Famous jumper obviously suits her. Perhaps we can take some tips  for a softer edge to the business look, fortunately business dressing is not all about plain dark suits anymore!

For the very young, it’s easy. You just throw on the first thing that comes to hand, and you look good whatever, as you have youth on your side. As you get older, this gets harder, as often the figure is not so good, and we have less time on our hands, which is a shame, as it takes a lot longer to get ready and look good than it used to!

Getting ready for work doesn’t seem to present the same dilemma, as we have wardrobe staples that we pull out regularly. Why not do the same for casual, have a few wardrobe basics ready? Here’s a few tips so you can look good on your casual days:

Invest in a good pair of jeans , or several if you can afford it. Ideally, one shortened for high heels/boots, one for flats/pumps. And one to tuck into your boots.

Make sure you have a few tops/knits that you really love to wear with each pair of jeans, and getting dressed for casual will be easy.

In Winter a coat that you adore can really  brighten up your wardrobe.  Or invest in a great leather jacket. It will always look good thrown over a jumper and accessorised with a scarf.

Stick to good quality clothing. As with most things in life, you get what you pay for, so buy the best you can afford. You will get better shaping, and extra detailing which makes all the difference. Work out a way to wear minimal make up and a way of wearing your hair on days off which works for you but takes less time. As you get older, it’s unlikely that you’ll just be able to just jump out of bed and look perfect. Looking good casual takes work is the real truth.

Isn’t it great that all of that goes out the window at Xmas, and dressing up in a sparkly number is perfectly acceptable for at least two weeks of the year!

According to those in the know, it’s all about the party “dress” this Xmas. A recent article in the Telegraph says “It’s party time, and the dress is centre stage! ” Perhaps we need to thank Cheryl and Dannii on the X-Factor for making the dress so popular? Think about it, when did you ever see either of them turn up in separates?! Or perhaps it’s Kate we need to thank, for wearing that little blue dress for her engagement photo?

I took a look at the magazine, and it looks fantastic. They have recently held the first annual Women: Inspiration and Enterprise (WIE) Symposium, and whilst reading about it, a particular quote made me laugh. “Women are like each other’s Wonder Bras.
